This week, Amazon.com opened its virtual doors to their new Xbox Live store, allowing gamers to purchase Xbox Live subscriptions and arcade games that were previously only found through the console’s online marketplace. When an arcade game or subscription is purchased, the buyer will instantly receive a redemption code, which is used to download the item to the Xbox 360. Some of the advantages to using the amazon.com store outside of the Xbox Live marketplace are, you can easily give arcade games as gifts and you don’t have to deal with using Microsoft points.

What will really make this XBL store shine are Amazon’s great promotions, sales and deals of the day. As a gamer looking to save a few bucks, I would be more inclined to purchase a discounted title from Amazon, instead paying full price through the XBL Marketplace.
