Starting July 7, 2009 the Sci Fi Channel will rebrand itself into the new and improved SyFy Channel. The new SyFy will be more than just movies and TV shows dedicated to science fiction enthusiasts. The company recently announced a partnership with Acclaim, and plans are on the way to expand the network into SyFy Games division. Will we see video game adaptations of SciFi Film’s classics like Snake Head Terror, we could only hope so. (Not really)
Other plans for the “new and improved” channel include the new series “Warehouse 13”, which follows two FBI agents assigned to a mysterious warehouse (We’re guessing the warehouse resembles the “Area 51” warehouse, found in Indiana Jones movies.). StarGate fans will be happy to hear the next installment in the TV franchise “Stargate Universe” is underway, and Battlestar Galactica makes a sort-of return with the spinoff “Caprica” set to debut.
We’ll keep you posted as SciFi moves forward and we look forward to seeing what the revamped SyFY Channel has to offer.
