What was once a Nintendo DS exclusive, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, will be making its way to the Sony PSP.
“We’re proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games.
“Rockstar’s work with the GTA series has been an enormous part of the success of PlayStation platforms," said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. “We’re excited to welcome the critically acclaimed Chinatown Wars to the outstanding line-up of great games headed to the PSP platform this fall.”
Although GTA Chinatown Wars received high review scores, it managed to sell less than 200,000 copies in the U.S. Many attribute the lack of sales to the “kid-friendly” nature of the Nintendo DS. With the previous release of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories selling over 2 million copies on the PSP, sales of Chinatown Wars should vastly improve once it’s released on the "more mature" Sony hand-held.
