Hot on the heels of fluorescent puppies, fish and pigs, Scientists at the Central Institute for Experimental Animals in Kawasaki, Japan have created 'glow-in-the-dark' monkeys that can pass on their altered genes to offspring. The transgenic primates were created from modified eggs that included a green protein, which glowed under a special microscope.
Although the researchers believe these advances can further the treating of neurological disorders, many feel a bioethical debate with the public is necessary.
