Warning, fans of the original series, this is not the same G.I. Joe from your childhood. Adult Swim’s G.I. Joe Resolute takes a more “mature” approach when telling the never-ending story of the battle between G.I Joe and Cobra. The new series will premier on Adult Swim on April 25, 2009 as five minute mini-episodes, in the same fashion that Star Wars the Clone Wars began.

What seperates the new series from the 80’s classic are the use of guns (no lasers here), soldiers will perish in fire fights instead of parachuting of ejecting at the last moment and more intense hand-to-hand combat. The one thing I noticed in the first episode was a bit of blood and murder at the hands of Cobra, something that would have never made the morning cartoon series.
